10 LOUNGE IS THE NEW PREMIUM VENTURE launched by the iconic Hyderabad pub 10 Downing Street and a proud component of the 10 Downing group. 10D, as it's affectionately known by regulars, has been a pioneer on the local pubbing scene since its initial appearance in 1989. Styled along the lines of English public houses and blended with the Indian hospitality that is known the world over, 10D's signature is one of welcoming ambience, sophisticated interiors and friendly service. 10D is a friendly place to spend the evening with family, meet friends or just hang out.

Turbosound's Indian distributor Narain Proaudio Lighting Pvt Ltd was once again called upon to design and install a high-end Turbosound system of TCS Contracting loudspeakers at 10 Lounge. Narain is very proud to be part of the 10D culture, having already completed four venues for the popular club chain in Raipur, Jabalpur, Bhopal, and now at 10 Lounge at Secunderabad, making a significant mark on the party circuit.

The most recent 10 Lounge venture is a more up-market nightclub, aimed at a younger and higher energy clientele with an international feel, and will feature "A" class artists who will make the venue hotter than any other club in the country, and bring a superior style of nightlife to the Twin Cities' club scene. It is the destination of choice for the elite, who love to party, dance, mix, mingle and let loose with a beautiful atmosphere that caters to a fashionable, yet unpretentious clientele.

10 Lounge's guests will get to groove to the tunes by the in-house DJs Gani and Lucky Sabri, and have already seen a host of "A" list artists in the first month of launch - including DJ Jorn Van Deynhoven, DJ Suketu , DJ Rafsy & DJ Tally.

The install at 10 Lounge called for a Turbosound rig that would deliver high sound pressure levels at all frequencies, and so Oswin, the man behind Hyderabad-based rental company Hangar 18 Entertainment, who was instrumental in the system design and tuning, specified a combination of models from the TCS contracting series and the TXD series.

Turbosound's TCS series is a contracting-specific range of loudspeakers with features such as trapezoidal cabinets, rotatable Converging Elliptical Waveguides and a choice of dispersion options, IP54 and custom colour options, complete rigging solutions, plus EASE data backup that make them well suited to permanent installations.

"With 10 Lounge planned to be the best club in the country," says Oswin, "I specifically advised Turbosound's TCS series of loudspeakers, whose crisp tonal quality was vitally important. Since we've being using Aspect TA-500t three-ways as part of our live rental inventory and their performance has been flawless, Turbosound was the first and only choice for the install".

The venue is laid out as a main room with seating at the rear, and additionally two VIP areas. Space for loudspeakers is fairly limited, and this primarily was the driving force behind the choice of the compact TCS and TXD cabinets.

A total of four wall-mounted TCS-122/64 biamped 12" two-ways (with 60° horizontal x 40° vertical dispersion) and two TCS-B218 subwoofers built into alcoves power the dance floor, with four TXD-12M passive 12" two-ways, four TCS-081 passive 8" 2-ways, and two TXD-215 dual 15" subs being used as fills. There are also two PDRs each with two TXD-12Ms and one TXD-115 sub.

Turbosound's applications engineer Chris Kmiec was on hand to lend factory support and help oversee the installation. "Oswin has done a great job and the system sounds very good," he reports, "we are pleased to be part of the 10D culture. 10 Lounge will surely be among the best sounding clubs in India."

The result has drawn positive comments from the artists. DJ Rafsy commented: "The sound and light install was definitely of international standards." And DJ Jorn Van Deynhoven was equally impressed by the sound quality: "Audio tonal quality is fantastic," he said, "even when playing at really high levels."
